Privacy Statement

We respect the privacy of those who use our website and we take great care that the personal details you provide us are treated with the utmost confidentiality. Our salaried staff as well as our volunteers are fully aware of the rules relating to the processing of privacy-sensitive information, which they apply in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act.

Use of personal data.

The personal details you provide enable us to  enter into, and execute, agreements regarding legal services and to manage the relations stemming thereof, which also includes promotional activities with the intention to increase our number of customers.

When you send us a message by email, we keep the details you give us for as long as it takes (depending on the nature of your message) to fully answer and/or deal with your request.

Use of our website.

On our website, the number of visitors is being logged,  including the IP-address of your computer, your username, the time of your visit and the data your browser provides us. We use these data to analyse visiting and looking behaviour on our website and also to improve our website. These data are being made anonymous as much as possible. We do not give or sell data to third parties.

Google Analytics.

We use Google Analytics to learn how visitors use our website. The data thus gained, including the IP-address of your computer, are being transferred to Google who store it on servers in the US.  Google uses this information to track how our website is being used, to send us detailed information about our website and to inform Google’s customers about the effectiveness of their advertisements. Google may pass this information on to others if legally obliged to do so, or in case others process said information on behalf of Google. We are in no position to influence these proceedings.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn

On our website we provide links to promote certain pages or share them on social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. These links are being generated by a code which is provided by those parties. This code leaves a cookie (see hereafter). Please read the privacy statements (which may change regularly) of the aforementioned social media to see for what purposes they use your personal data, acquired with this code.

Newsletter

We provide a newsletter in which we keep those interested in our Museum informed about developments. Your name and mail-address will be added to the list of subscribers when you ask us to do so. Every newsletter contains a link for you to unsubscribe. The list of subscribers will not be provided to third parties.

Bookings through our webshop

When making a booking, you will be asked your first name, family name, mail address and phone number; this is to enable us to send you your e-ticket and to contact you in case of  any emergency. You can tick the appropriate box if you wish to be informed about our present and future activities and offers. In that case we will keep your first name and family name, your mail-address and the details of your booking. Otherwise, your personal data will be made anonymous within 3 months after your visit.

Bookings through our office

When making a booking, you will be asked your first name, family name, address, mail address and phone number; this is to enable us to send you your e-ticket and to contact you in case of any emergency. If we send you an invoice, we have a legal obligation to keep your name and address on file. In all other cases  your personal data will be made anonymous within 3 months after your visit.

Use of cookies

When offering services via internet, we make use of cookies. A cookie is a simple small file that is sent with pages of our website and that is kept by your browser on the hard disk of your computer. Amongst other things it is used by us to combine different readings of webpages and to analyse visitor’s behaviour on our website. You may refuse the use of these cookies, but that may limit the functionality of our website and diminish your user’s experience.

Statutory Rights

If you are or have been a customer of our Museum, you may send us a written request to inspect your personal data we possess. If our records contain any faults, you may ask us to rectify or delete those data. In case you no longer wish to receive our newsletter you may unsubscribe by sending an email to info@stoomtram.nl and we will delete your personal data within 4 weeks.

Changes to our Privacy Statement

We reserve the right to alter the contents of this statement. Changes will be mentioned on our website.
